Syfy is the channel this blog supports fully. I adore it, quirks and all. I was thrilled when they offered a Flipcam for a giveaway to the devoted readers. This episode of F'ing Bigfoot was in Ohio. I have to admit to being skeptical about BF activity in the Ohio area. I suppose closer to WV, it could be possible. I absolutely believe it exists in WV, where I had an amazing encounter at nighttime in 2005 at a protected area where hunters weren't allowed and wildlife was so plentiful, it was like the Garden of Eden, as well the entire landscape riddled with more caves than anyone could explore in a lifetime. If Ohio has similar conditions, I could see it being possible. I just think population density around there would make a state park a very small habitat for breeding. Luckily on the squatch count, this episode was strangely less "squatch" and much much more "Bigfoot." glad I don't take a drink for every BF or squatch. I'd have to call into work the next day. Tonight is "Finding Bigfoot" on Animal Planet. They're heading to Ohio. Y'all know that I do live blogging at 11 pm MST (1 am EST) on " Bigfoot Evidence " blog. Shawn, the host of the blog, gives the blow by blow description and I provide the MST3000 commentary and one sip of beer for every "squatch." The last two weeks, 41 and 49 squatches. I think Matt might be the biggest culprit saying "SAH-squatch" all the time. You must keep a watch on Cliff Barackman's blog, Northern American Bigfoot where he gives great video commentary about what went down that we didn't see in the show. He is total awesomeness! I showed photos on yesterday's post of abandoned homes on Julie and I's recent road trip. Today, I shows businesses....

I took some pics of things that moved me when I saw them on our road trip. I kid around a LOT on the road, but I also stop and just soak up nature and beauty. I love to photograph and I love to paint and draw and use places as locations in my writing. Sometimes, I just want to get in tune spiritually with the land and the feel. Each place has a different spiritual harmonic frequency (that sounds very New Age for a Virgo logic-minded person), but some time sit by the ocean or sit in a snow filled field and notice the different energy that your body and mind feel. It is unique for each locale. Here are photos of some of the "energies" I felt on the recent road trip....

This picture (above) is why "F'ing Bigfoot" works. A team of 4 characters; a skeptical scientist, a life-long BF hunter, BF's best future buddy, and a child-like enthusiast who wonders at nature. I hear people bellyache about the show, " it's not real Bigfoot hunting ," " I can't believe they thought that was a squatch ," " that witness was totally bogus ." Here's what those viewers need to know: This is a show. A show is a way to present information in a way that is expedient and entertaining. We wouldn't watch grass grow on TV. We would not expect a cure for cancer while filming a lab. Let's use the musical as an example.... We don't believe that people break out into song while chopping wood. That's preposterous and it loses credibility if we take it literally. It's actually representing the process going on in the character's psyches and emotions for us to get inside their heads. I always enjoy putting things together to give you the feel for what it's like on a long road trip in the desert to these creepy and abandoned and out of the way places Julie and I visit. Here's a good one that captures the many sights and the feel and mood of it. We stopped off at the cemetery near Vulture Mine and I filmed it. It is about the loneliest place in the world to be buried and forgotten.

On Julie and I's road trip, we ran into so many towns where many buildings were boarded up. We found a lot of abandoned businesses (post tomorrow). Today, here's just some of the houses that were once called "home."

In the town of Yarnell, AZ, Julie and I came across a crazy little abandoned building that looked like it was once owned by an eccentric artist. The front door was fascinating. While staring at the place, I looked at the vines on the window and startled and gasped when I saw a ghost-like face looking back (what whimsy!) Then, as I studied it closer, I noticed that at the ends of the struts holding up the eaves were little wooden carved faces dried out and aged by the desert sun... I've never had a reason to desire to live in an abandoned abode, but this would be the one I would choose. I can't explain how the place felt, except it called to me and I kept coming back and just wanting to stand there. Happy, creative energy and whimsy and a bit of spooky lingering mystery....   Just my kind of place!

So, gal pal road trips include haunted locales, stopping at every single absolutely terrifyingly creepy and abandoned place we can find. I think Julie and I beat our record this time with perhaps 50 abandoned sites we photographed. We stop anywhere and everywhere and always eat at a local diner. When we were in Kirkland, I reached into my toiletries bag and dug the tip of my finger into a razor. Yeah, OW!!!! I was bleeding like crazy and the place had no Band-Aids. So, I did like I normally do, I rigged something. I tore a panty liner down the middle and wrapped it around my finger and to keep it on all night, I took a hair scrunchy and wrapped it around that a few times. It worked like a charm. The next morning, we decided to go to Skull Valley...because it was there. We heard it was 7 miles down the road and when you have a place with that name, you must go investigate... We ended up finding that the town was much more organized than other towns we had passed through. It not only...

Julie and I went to a wicked out-of-the-way historic locale for a little impromptu ghost hunt and urban exploration road trek. We went to a location called Kirkland, AZ and a particular historic building called the Kirkland Bar and Steakhouse. ( This is actually up for sale, folks ) This old site had the top floor burn down long ago. It was a bordello and a Well's Fargo stop. In fact, the safe is still inside a concrete room from 1880. In one of the dining halls, the 18-20 foot high ceiling had finger prints and dragging finger marks show up on the ceiling. A madam named Mary had her throat slit in 1916. She is seen in the dance floor area. Here's the charming and creepy story... The restaurant bought some wood from a chicken coup in nearby Skull Valley. It was put onto the walls of the dance floor area and over time, Mary's face showed up on the wood and gets darker and more prominent over time -- People have reported photographic anomalies.
