Unexplained Creatures Found!

Looks creepy, eh? This one was explained. It was found to be a newborn baboon, killed by a bite through the skull which is not unusual in that group of animals to have infanticide.   The African troll (above) video made its way around the internet. According to the hunters' story, they shot one and chased it into a lair where there were more they had to do battle with.   This creature (above) was found in Russia on the beach. It has skin with hair or fur. It was not an alligator, fish or crocodile. It was taken away by Russian special services. What it was? Still not reported. This critter (above) was found in San Antonio, called a chupacabra, one of the odd hairless, hopping, bizarre looking dog-like creatures being discovered fairly often in the south. In 1954 in England a "monster" was found that came to be called the Canvey Island Monster.  "The 1953 specimen was described as being 76cm (2.4ft) long with thick reddish brown skin, bulging eyes and gills. It was al

Creepy Fog

Sure, thunder and lightning are in-your-face unsettling and snow is bleak and colorless, but nothing quite unsettles a person more than fog rolling in, eating up the landscape, one acre at a time. The 1980 movie "The Fog," was a classic. There is something about the sea and fog engulfing ships and eating up the streets and buildings, masking the comings and goings of vengeful specters that creates terrr! It doesn't get better than that for creep factor. Fog is a complex atmospheric phenomenon. It is a visible mass consisting of cloud water droplets or ice crystals suspended in the air at or near the Earth's surface. Fog can be considered a type of low-lying cloud, and is heavily influenced by nearby bodies of water, topography, wind conditions, and even human activities. In turn, fog has affected many human activities, such as shipping and transport, warfare, and culture. Chile's Fray Jorge National Park has trees that eat and drink their needs from the fog. This

Shots of Awe: Motivational YouTube Channels

There are, upon occasion, YouTube channels I become addicted to. I click the gear in the upper right once I subscribe and "get updates" to my email so I can know when they post something new. Shots of Awe is one such channel.  Jason Silva does a most amazing job of imparting motivation, perspective shift, and philosophy with passion and energy, edited with music and gorgeous photographs and locations to truly put you in "awe."  Jason Silva is a motivational speaker who calls himself a philosopher, futurist, and media artist. He is also the host of National Geographic's "Brain Games" show. He manages to pack a punch in just a few minutes' time. This is something I have long wanted to see for the use of YouTube, that instead of long verbose videos, something that can capture your eye and your mind and spirit within maybe just 3 minutes' time, the span of time you might watch something on your phone in a waiting room or on your work computer dur

Sweet Midnight: Fun Horror Fashions

Renee Harper really has impressed me and when I see an artist with a craft, I just want to let others know.  Renee owns the fashion design company, "S weet Midnight " that makes fun and campy, tongue-in-cheek and nostalgic horror clothing and accessories. She artistic, fun, brilliant, and high-energy. Two Of My Books Highly Recommended

Growing Up With Ghosts is my award-winning 5-star rated nonfiction book ( Paperback ) ( Kindle ). It is on Amazon in paperback and on Kindle. It can be purchased in paperback on most online sellers too.  I shared the unsettling accounts of my and my family’s experiences at the 250-year-old house we called home in Northern Virginia. The actively haunted estate had been used as a field hospital during the Civil War and left a lingering residue of haunting activity, apparitions, voices, object movement, and more. To me, growing up there since I was a baby, the phenomena seemed quite normal and natural. It honed my desire to understand how and why hauntings occur and led me as an adult into the field of paranormal investigation. Here's just one of the many 5-star reviews: Truth really is stranger than fiction. And this book surely ranks among the highest for strange but true stories. She chronicles her childhood from her earliest memories of her experiences with ghosts in a house she

Getting in the Halloween Mood With All Your Senses

You know you do it. Come, admit it. You anticipate Halloween the minute September is about to roll around. You are anticipating fall. You want the shorter days, the cooler nights, the pumpkin patches, and the harvest moon. In fact, Julie Ferguson and I did a whole chapter in our book, " Paranormal Geeks " just about Halloween and what it means to our people with lots of our tribe of para geeks chiming in on the most hallowed of holidays. Let's take this bit by bit - how you can introduce little tastes of the coming season into your end of summer routine.  Scent It's time to consider switching over to more autumnal types of scents for yourself and your home. Think in terms of scented candles, pot pourri, body fragrance, air freshener, and bath oil. Consider scents like rosemary, pine, cedar, cinnamon, cloves, ginger, and chocolate. I buy a bottle of grain alcohol or vodka and put it into a spray bottle with an essential oil mix with autumn smells. I shake it up and us

Reiki: What Did the Ancients Know?

I admit I don't consider myself a New Ager, per se. I am not easily swayed by claims of alkaline water and magnets in bracelets and the like, but I am a huge advocate of permaculture, sustainability, organic growing, and healthy living. I came across a very simple and very nicely presented video teaching the basics of Reiki and how it works and demonstrating. It is very impressive and Randolph Shipin did an excellent job. In fact, you can find him at these two sites and I encourage you to go give them a check. Reikiday.com Reikipsychology.com The concept of Reiki is healing through the use of channeled energy. Although it certainly has its skeptics and the use of the word "energy" with a flair of generality is used often in New Age practices, there is something to be said about two people focusing on a person's balance and health, healing and belief.  Stress is the worst antagonizing force on our bodies and the opposite of stress is peace. Any time a person who believ

Spirit Halloween Animatronics: What is Right? What is Wrong?

Cerberus $179.99 It's getting close to that amazing time of the year. At Christmastime, kiddies rush to mall Santas, but in autumn, us para geeks and horror freaks rush to Spirit Halloween shops wherever they pop up. There is nothing more gleeful than wandering the aisles, considering costumes and accessories, hearing the sounds of howls and moans, dark corners, gothic headstones, and more.  The concept of a holiday store is a great one - some of us shop for year-round decorating for our homes and clothing for date night there. We're pretty hardcore.  Who doesn't want to wear these hose year round? Spirit Halloween sometimes misses out on some amazing opportunities. Imagine having a barista with pumpkin topped hot drinks and cookies with candy corn in them and a place to sit among the horrors?  Imagine having animatronics that are painted more realistic and that are manageable sizes and don't just scream and jump? Sometimes they hit the mark, most of the time, they anno

Bigfoot Feet

1980 cast from Stillaguamish River What is a Bigfoot foot like? Well, we can make some very basic assumptions. For one, since they go barefoot, the souls must be very keratinized and tough.  These feet (above) belong to an indigenous person who has never worn shoes. Without boxing the feet into shoes at a young age and throughout life, the foot has splayed wide in the upper foot. This makes balancing the weight over the ground easier.  The foot also must be flexible to conform to stepping on stones, limbs, and other. This limber foot is likely to create a most interesting print compared to us high-arched humans in hard-soled shoes. Imagine a stiff sole atop a pile of pebbles pushing off-making contact with just the edges of the pebbles that meet the hard flat sole. Now, imagine pushing off of pebbles with a pliable foot in which every surface of the exposed rocks meets the foot. The large area surface of the foot and rock combo for push off is a different process to the tiny surface ar
