GHOST HUNTERS

The ongoing story line in this season's episodes of "Search for the Lost Giants" has been the Goshen Tunnel in Massachusetts and the promise of an undiscovered burial chamber. Last night's episode certainly had our minds focused back on this hot archaeological site. I will be honest, the opening of the show with narrator and Jim standing in the room with the news clippings, reminds me of how I felt as a kid watching "In Search Of," literally wiggling in my seat, blanket wrapped around me, waiting for the world to give me a new mystery to chase and sharing discovery with the show's participants. Oh Boy! Oh Boy! Oh Boy! (If I had a tail, I'd be wagging it). My favorite show was on last night and once again confirmed my confidence in The History Channel and it's choice and quality of shows and how this particular show keeps me on the edge of my seat. The brothers hit the road this week to Appalachia where the largest cluster of giant finds is located, heading to a place referred to as the "bone cave" in Tennessee. One of my favorite books about the Giants and the Little People of Tennessee was The Natural and Aboriginal History of Tennessee by John Haywood that gives vast accounts of the finds. Repatriation laws have meant that ancient burial finds have to be handed over to Natives. As always, I was stoked for last night's episode and I hoped they were heading west to California, Nevada - somewhere out here where giants were extensive. Jim's neighbor Al Pieropan told him about a place called Nan Madol in Micronesia, a town rising out of the ocean that is mysterious and people in the local area speak of ancient giants and a curse that strikes anyone that disturbs their spirits. In 1907, the governor went there and dug out a giant burial ground and died the next day. He warned Jim that it may be dangerous to dig up skeletons of giants, a "giant hunter curse."   Jim admitted that the curse is not going to stop them from looking for evidence.  They decided to go to Catalina Island in California. The history has been talked about as the island of wizards and shaman and supernatural things, black magic and more. Last night brought us another awesome quality episode of " Search For the Lost Giants " with the Vieira brothers, Jim and Bill - the searchers of the truth! Thank you, once again, The History Channel , for carrying this quality show. The first episode of " Search For the Lost Giants" had me on the edge of my seat, enthralled and proved once again that The History Channel knows how to make a show for intelligent human beings! I was very thrilled for the next episode - the week went toooooo slowly! It takes a lot to make this geek excited, but the search for giants by some guys who are very well qualified and have just the right amount of skepticism, knowledge, and backbone, is really exciting. It's like Jonny Quest without Bandit! Warning: Spoilers (not like it matters because you are going to want to see this for yourselves!) In the Ozarks of Southern Missouri, the men start out in the "Land of Giants," on the road. They are spending two months on their question on their own dime.   That's passion and determination!
