Human-Like Movie Monsters

Sure, there's King Kong, Godzilla, Cloverfield, and Aliens, but what about monsters that are human-like?  Sometimes, those are the most horrifying because we assume they also have our intelligence and ability to plot - Pan's Labyrinth This monster was seriously disturbing. It was the combination of something that should not occur -- eyes should never be in the palms of one's hands! It makes it just distorted and surreal enough to horrify. The Descent This is probably one of my favorites of the human-like monsters. The concept of humans evolving inside of caves with possibly night vision, and slimy pale skin, just disturbs, and the bat-like ears don't help to make me any more comfortable. 30 Days  Of Night Absolutely the best vampires in a movie ever! They were human but distorted and they were not charming or sexy, just pure soul-less feeding machines.      Dead Si lence This movie was a gem and the concept of this woman's ghost taking on the look of her precious ve

Believe Series: Family Disease and Lifestyle

I am claiming Saturdays on GHT for any subject I wish to discuss that has to do with the power of belief. This might be about new scientific finds and evidence, or it could be about your own personal journey and how to obtain goals. It might involve growing your own food and eating organically, or it could be about how to handle investigating. It might or might not have to do with para subjects, but life coaching, healthy living, lifestyle change, the importance of humor, how to comport yourself in your field of study, living the dream, going on adventures.... You won't know what each Saturday will bring, but be assured they will all be written from my heart and soul, as they will be subjects I am passionate about. Today's first installment -  Family disease and lifestyle We were not meant to sit for most of our waking hours, though between breakfast, commute, work, and watching TV, hanging around on the computer, playing video games, up to 90% of our day can be sitting or lyin

Friday Vlog: What is Facial Amnesia?

Today's VLOG - what's it like to live with facial amnesia.  Tomorrow I'm starting a new Saturday series on the blog called "Believe" and it will allow me to share excitement in many arenas I'm active in from life coaching and lifestyle change, setting goals and ambition, new finds in the field of science, growing your own organic food, using creative outlets, etc. It will be a fun day of the week to teach about more subjects that I work in besides just the unexplained. I hope y'all enjoy it!

The Dog-Faced Tribes of Russia

There are legends of tribes of people with dog-shaped heads. Cyanocephaly sounds quite extraordinary, but the frame of reference for people with unusual-shaped skulls that create a snout-like situation would be explained by most as "dog-faced." Could such tribes have existed? Well in the the travels of Medieval adventurers like Giovanni da Pian del Carpine, Ogedei Khan and Marco Polo, they spoke of running to such tribes in Russian territory.  Giovanni mentioned the armies of Ogedei Khan who ran into the dog-headed barbaric people in the area of Lake Baikal. Marco Polo spoke of finding them in Andaman Islands.  Ancient Greeks and Ancient Egyptians spoke of dog-headed people in their legends.  Greek explorer, Megasthenes, claimed there were dog-headed people in India who lived in the mountains and barked, lived in animal skins, and lived like wild things. St. Andrew and St. Bartholomew described,  "city of cannibals... whose face was like unto that of a dog." Augusti

Ghosts: The Little Phantoms in the Hospitals

' I worked in an ER for a few years. I remember hearing some nurses talking to a paramedic. They were discussing the "wee ones." I thought at the time they meant children. Later, however, I heard the discussion continuing as one of them pointed out where she had seen the wee one and what the wee one looked like. The nurse pointed to a spot between two doors. The doors had no windows. It was between a couple of beds in the row of beds that were curtained in the ER.  I listened as she told the paramedic her encounter. "Probably 2:30 or 3 in the morning. It was a slow night. I was heading back in from the break room toward the front desk, going through here." She gestured the bed-lined room.  "I got right about there." She pointed to the center of the room. "I saw something out of the corner of my eye and felt a weird shiver. Goosebumps all over." She rubbed her arms recalling it.  "It's like I felt someone watching me, but only one bed

Review: X-Files

Monday nights starting tonight - 8 pm Fox Channel, new episodes of the beloved series, "X-Files." I readily admit, I wasn't sure what to expect when they brought back X-Files for a 6-episode season, but I am so very glad I sat down and watched the opening last night! I am so hooked. The plot is so feasible it's almost chilling and the pacing great. The acting was sometimes a bit stilted and almost over-rehearsed between Scully and Mulder. It felt strange, as if their voices could emote, but they could not in their bodies or faces ( talking heads syndrome ). The plot, however, is just wicked awesome. I do not want to give away anything, except to say that they did some great research, spent some times with true conspiracy consultants and took this in a path that has me hooked big time. It also brought back a few characters from the original series including my monster crush, Skinner. Oh, I must say Mitch Pileggi has always curled my toes. I cannot wait for tonight! Do

Just How Tall Were the Ancient Giants?

Take your hand and hold your jaw as if you're saying "hmmm" and thinking. Now, imagine another jaw that is so big it easily surroundings it. Hold your hands a couple inches away from you jaw. Now you're getting the picture. Take it further. Imagine an entire skull fits over your entire head like a water bucket. And that's just the inside size of their skull. Now, we're talking ancient giant size! Ancient red-haired giant jaw (above) Human jaw mold within (above) Notice the mental foramen (holes) near the first molars on the front of the giant's jaw? The magical "Otamid" type of skull with sloped head and extra bone in the back called an os inca that created a pointed looking back of the head. Did ancient people bind their heads to look like the giants?  I would swear that I'm right about that! Today, we might see those shapes and say they are archaic, but back then, they were the first people, the knowledgeable ones, who owned the lands fir
