Expedition Unknown - Yeti Continues Tonight!

Josh Gates is continuing his search for the yeti on tonight's episode of "Expedition Unknown." Last week's season opener was so awesome, people are still talking about it. If you didn't see it, they are reshowing it tonight on TRAVEL CHANNEL before they show this second part episode.  Josh is accompanied on this trek by expert Adam Davies, a knowledgeable and likable companion. I'd actually like to see him be a regular sidekick - he needs someone to work with to get that conversation going back and forth on the discoveries. I have to say, tonight is a popcorn evening for sure!

Yeti Spaghetti: The Best of the Worst Yeti Movies

There are several yeti movies out there to choose from, and the vast majority are honestly horrible. In fact, I don't think I've seen a good Yeti portrayal yet. So, let's cover this lesser known genre of "Yeti Spaghetti Films;" the best of the awful offerings -  Yeti: Curse of the Snow Demon A plane crashes in the Himalayas with a football team on board. Nope, it's not like the Andes, these guys don't end up cannibalizing each other, but I bet they wished they had. These guys come up against a Yeti that likes to spoon in caves with young women or young men - I don't think he was that gender specific.  Snowbeast I actually enjoyed the 1977 all-start version of this movie, but it became something unbelievably abysmal in the 2011 rendition. People go missing in Canada and they go looking for them only to find a giant hairy beast of the woods. Abominable Snowman Friends on a snowy adventure run into a yeti.  Rage of the Yeti Treasure hunters run into monst...

Did Gigantopithecus blacki Evolve Into Bigfoot/Yeti?

( picture above from the Museum of Man in Balboa Park, San Diego taken by me on my vacation ) I wrote this post because, as I rounded the top of the stairs at the Museum of Man, I heard a kid rush to his mommy and pull on her hand saying, "look, Bigfoot!" This brought home the thoughts about the popular theory that Bigfoot is actually a descendant of Gigantopithecus blacki. I readily admit I am of that team. We know Giganto was in Asia and believed to many to be killed and eaten by homo erectus. Whether or not this creature was extinct has come to the forefront of Bigfoot/Yeti discussions. A creature with extremely similar physical features was in Asia, a place where Yeti is often reported and, as well, had the opportunity to cross the land bridge long ago with man into the Americas where higher elevations and colder climates would be more his preference; just like Scandinavians tended to settle in Minnesota and Asians along the Pacific waterfront. How would Giganto have evo...
