Ghost Ships

My ghost ship painting "Thor's Quest"  I am and always have been utterly fascinated by ghost ships. This post hopefully will bring your sense of adventure and horror together on the sea for several minutes of reading fascination.... In the Phillipines, a yacht was found adrift.  It's not super rare to find a boat unattended at sea, but this was guarded by the mummified body of its captain. The man, Manfred Barjorat, was asea since 2009 by latest dates and was just found in February 2016. For seven years, his body traversed the globe to unknown places. Of course, there is no telling at what point in his voyage he died, but his body was nicely mummified due to the warmer clime. Flying Dutchman Ship The Flying Dutchman ship has been spotted many times in the last two centuries, with the late King George V of England writing a detailed account of his own sighting in 1880 off the coast of Australia: "At 4 a.m. the Flying Dutchman crossed our bows. Oil paintings!

I decided five years ago that I wasn't going to try to live a perfect life, but instead an interesting one.  When you decide your life will be interesting, something happens - you quit labeling things "win" and "lose" "good" and "bad" and you start looking at the complexity, the texture, the flavor, the range of experiences.  An interesting life involves not taking the path, but blazing a trail.  Lately, I've been doing a collection of paintings to add to my Etsy shop and I have updated the look of the shop to suit my work.  I am hoping to focus purely on the way I see the world with my synesthetic, psychic, colorful, and child-like style.  My paintings are about sky and what it does to everything beneath it. I hope to take people into my vision through a series of paintings. After all, the one time we realize we are part of a world is when we look up at the ceiling of sky overhead and know that it goes on forever .... Some of my art w...

Terrors Of the Sea!

Between Bermuda Triangle, horrifying deep sea creatures, cryptid monsters, mermaids, haunted lighthouses, shipwrecks, ghost ships and more - the sea is the location of a great deal of horror! I think the sea is the most amazing mystery. We float atop of it, but beneath is a world of mystery and death. Flying Dutchman This legend involves a ghost that sank 1641 off the Cape of Good Hope.  The captain cursed the ship as it was sinking that he would continue to sail it to doomsday.  The legend became a ship forced to sail the seas for an eternity.  The movie "Pirates of the Caribbean" portrayed this concept quite nicely. Many areas of the ocean and even the Great Lakes have tales of the Flying Dutchmen.   Japanese Ghost Ship This ghost ship was found adrift a year after the Japanese earthquake. Gives one chills to imagine ships with no one sailing them. Amelia Earhart This 1930s female pilot in a male-dominated field, wanted to push her records at flight again a...
