Steampunk, Western, UrbEx Etsy Shop!

Backroads Treasures is my very dear friend, co-hunter and co-author, Julie's Etsy shop. What's so totally cool about it is that she not only uses her photography, but also found items from abandoned sites we've explored together. She has an influence that is part western, part steampunk, and a tiny dash of hippie. I'm so proud of my sis for so many things from being a big-hearted, easygoing, intelligent, talented photographer and writer, blogger and artisan. Wolf tooth and key--fantastic combo! This one is so fascinating and I can see a bit of the hippie influence in it--just a tad. If I know my buddy, this necklace above was inspired by Josh Gates. This wall hanging not only has a freaking awesome pic, but a nicely placed rusted knob. Incorporating items at sites she takes photos is a touch that makes her things so historic and have a feel that exudes from them with a very nostalgic energy.

Western Steampunk Art

My writing partner has an amazing Etsy shop. When we worked on our book "Abandoned Places: Abandoned Memories (Desert Edition)" (book of photographs and psychic reads from abandoned places--Kindle & Nook for $2.99), we went to a lot of abandoned sites and she collected bits and pieces and photographs and incorporated the southwest into a kind of steampunk/western/urbex wonder of art. The bolo tie has an arrowhead and bullet casings. The photo of indian ruins wall hanging has arrowheads. The photo of the antique car has a rusted part attached. I love the way she incorporates these and I have to say that they really is an AZ native and knows what the state is about.
