Lots of locations around the world have legends of hairy men in the wild, but not many people know that New Zealand has their own hairy man called Moehau . There are stories in Coromandel Peninsula of red-haired men who lived in caves. In fact, the legend supposedly arises from a cave full of strange skeletons. These people were reported to have been small men with red hair in one cave and giant skeletons over 7 feet tall in another.  This is interesting, as there are legends of the giants and the little people sharing areas. In fact, in the book The Natural and Aboriginal History of Tennessee by John Haywood has many descriptions of both being found in great amounts in Tennessee in the 1700s.  Legends of giant red-haired people are found around the world, as well. A social studies student asked questions of cab drivers and one of them directed at the cabbies was "have you had something unusual happen since the tsunami in 2011?" Surprisingly, a percentage of them admitted, yes. Some of these drivers reported picking up people who disappeared during the ride, some kind of ghost hitchhikers. One even asked if she was dead .  And, these drivers were even stuck with paying the meter fair. It wasn't just the taxi drivers. There was a considerable rise in people believing they were possessed following the tragedies. Upon occasion, someone who has never encountered the paranormal, suddenly does.  It might be a walk through the woods, turning and seeing something walk by in the distance that does not look like a person in clothing, but a hairy tall person moving in a purposeful stride.  Perhaps it's spending a night at an historic bed and breakfast only to awaken during the night to something tugging on your sheets and find them pulling away from your body as you lie there, helpless and horrified.  It might be a time when you drive down a country late at twilight only to see some light in the sky that shouldn't be there, isn't a plane, is the wrong color, size, and movement....
