Overkill by Colin Hay
I readily admit to a monster crush since the 80s. Colin Hay is still totally a dish--yummers! I love his lyrics and his solo career after "Men at Work." The man is absolutely the embodiment of what I love about men when they are living up to their talented potential by being authentic and not coming from the ego self.
This song is a very haunting one and as a psychic who does connect with her readers, I felt like a good majority of you need this song--read the lyrics and listen to it. Know that you're not alone with your ruminations--we all suffer it in those moments when we are totally alone with ourselves after a day of distractions.
This really shows how we can haunt ourselves while alive and it happens in those moments in bed when there is no TV, no computer, no distractions--just us reacquainting with all the things we didn't allow into our head during the busy day. So, listen to this when you have some quiet time, really listen to it and when you go to bed at night, know that you're haunting yourself.
I can't get to sleep
I think about the implications
Of diving in too deep
And possibly the complications
Especially at night
I worry over situations
I know we'll be alright
Perhaps it's just imagination
Day after day it reappears
Night after night my heartbeat shows the fear
Ghosts appear and fade away
Come back another day
Alone between the sheets
Only brings exasperation
It's time to walk the streets
Smell the desperation
At least there's pretty lights
And though there's little variation
It nullifies the night from overkill
Day after day it reappears
Night after night my heartbeat shows the fear
Ghosts appear and fade away
Come back another day
I can't get to sleep
I think about the implications
Of diving in too deep
And possibly the complications
Especially at night
I worry over situations that
I know will be alright
It's just overkill
Day after day it reappears
Night after night my heartbeat shows the fear
Ghosts appear and fade away
Ghosts appear and fade away
Ghosts appear and fade away
